Introducing…CDG Play

September 1st, 2010

The Comme des Garçons Play line has arrived at Dope Couture! All of these products are made in Japan, the most art and fashion savvy part of the world, and it’s right here in Bloomington, IN as well as our webstore. We feel that this filtered selection of CDG Play is a great representation of the brand and we hope you can share our excitement. Filip Pagowski, a Polish artist, is the creator of the simple but ingenious heart logo that has become one of the most visible and recognizable icons associated with Comme des Garcons.

CDG Play is a Japanese brand started by the famous, never-been-to-fashion-school bandit, Rei Kawakubo. She discovered this Polish model and artist and the rest is history. His first draft of the seeing heart is exactly what you see on the shirts. If you come to New York (where I am currently residing), you will see that CDG shirts have been hand picked by only the most fashionable streetwalkers. We hope you enjoy our new addition of tees, polos and cardigans. Quantities are very limited so visit our store or webstore while we have your size.

The OG Comme des Garçons line has collaborated with various other labels over the years including Levi’s, Speedo, Nike, Moncler, Lacoste, Cutler and Gross, Chrome Hearts, Hammerthor, Louis Vuitton and many others. Some celebrities who have worn Comme des Garçons include Matt Bellamy, Alexander Mcqueen, Chloe Sevigny, Kanye West, Tilda Swinton, Mary-Kate Olsen, Vincent Ng, Selma Blair, Leila Aldik, Drake, Justin Bieber, and the list goes on.

Wiz Kids – Financial Aid 2

August 30th, 2010

My inbox gets filled with mixtape upon mixtape to get sponsorship, this one actually caught my attention because one it definitely had different feel to it than many of the other weed rap/hypebeast mixtapes I get. I told them it reminded me of a Mid-West version of Pac Div or U-N-I and just had this feel good vibe to it. Also I pretty was surprised it came out of Indianapolis! So without further ado here’s Wiz Kids – Financial Aid 2. Be on the lookout for more good music from them in the near future. Click the pic to download and Please Enjoy!

Jip Jop – Important

August 28th, 2010

The first time I heard Jip Jop I drunkly stepped into BlueBird on a random Thursday and they were doing covers of some of my favorite hip hop records songs so I was immediately hooked. Since then I’ve seen them mature into the most electrifying experience around town! if you get a chance you need to see them….pause… they are playing tonight at the Bluebird at 9pm! This show is a little different because its their record release party for their new album Important. I’ve had the privilege to hear some the tracks off this new album, be prepared to have your mind blown! The horn section sets it over the top, also the you have my main man Bobby Wooten dropping funky bass lines. Click the pic to download  ”Important” a new track off the album and Please Enjoy!

Sidebar: If you’re lucky tonight they might do my favorite cover “Mayer Hawthorne – Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out”
