Las Vegas

August 29, 2008

Back from Magic with a lot of good stuff in the works (Japan here we come). We're happy to be free from the city of sin and debauchery (only b.c. we overindulged) and here are a couple of pictures that we were able to get.

BJ, Pusha T (Clipse), Me.

Cullen and I bringing back the croakies.

Flyer than the rest.

S.L.A.T.E.

American Apparel girls. Hott.

C'est horrible. Looking unphotogenic with Leah (MOB).

We stepped up the hotel this year.

This hotel/condo had a full kitchen.

Unecessary twin plasma screens.

However the view from the balcony was very necessary.

Mick @ Mansion

August 20, 2008

Last night DJ Reach celebrated his birthday at Mansion NYC with performances by Fabolous, Shwayze, and Cisco Adler. I didn't know who DJ Reach was until now but supposedly he used to be a resident DJ at Tao and he was the DJ for Jay-Z's infamous 24hr. hanger tour. Nuff said. The guest list was full of familiar faces including Mick Boogie. Like I previously have said, Mick is the man.

Mikey's Skytops

August 18, 2008

She got her high heels. I got my high tops. Mike was clownin on the skytops earlier but he finally gave into the Tufs. That's probably in order so he can stop skating in the Jordan III true blues. Mike's not really into all the streetwear hype but justifies the Tuf's because they're "clean and legit skate shoes."

Common Projects

August 15, 2008

These are so ill I would take these over a date with Penelope Cruz (watched Blow last night). No, no that's a lie but they're definitely crack. Yeah if you didn't know crack is better than dope. Our next move is crack couture, shh! Keep that on the low.

Seriously though, these are some of the most understated and powerful sneakers on the market. Beyond the Achilles mid-top ($265) the whole range is straight. In a world of crayola sneakers, brands like Common Projects keep it more mature and sophisticated. The Achilles mid features supple Nappa leather, a stylish rise, and their signature model no. stamp.

Bite Bite Bite

August 13, 2008

Haha, this is ridiculous. There is a chance that the shirt recently released by the Loots was created without any previous knowledge of our design but their description makes it questionable.

The Loots description: "The illusive North American sneaker snake is said to have venom deadly enough to kill with just one byte.....byters beware."

We actually like their execution better than our own. Well, we are flattered if they did bite. Good luck Loots, this was one of our worst selling shirts that season.

The original french poster.

Haha. This is one of those alternate versions of the video before the actual video is released. At least, I am pretty sure.

Mick Boogie Interview

August 10, 2008

Mick Boogie just gave us a shout out in Limite Magazine. This magazine is very official. They just did a post on Ibn Japer (Kanye's style consultant) too. They did a full interview on Mick and got his perspective on everything from his mixtapes to his style. Thanks Mick! Read the interview in full.

Nappville

August 10, 2008

I actually went to high school with these doods. They're doing their thing now and I saw them wearing DOPE (they didn't know it was affiliated with me at the time) at a show in Indianapolis some time back. These pics are from a recent mini-tour with DJ Khaled and Young Berg.

Tour bus = Official.

Nappyville with Young Berg. If you don't know him you might remember this.

Dope Couture in NY Times

August 06, 2008

Click the picture to be taken to the article. Look for "B’zar, a lower Manhattan-worthy streetwear boutique. B’zar sponsors local fashion shows and carries clothes by Dope Couture, Crooks and Castles and Obey."

Wow, not only were we mentioned first but we were followed with Crooks and Obey. That's stoopid. I love it. I lived in Charleston S.C. last summer where I actually started putting real time and energy into DOPE. I was supposed to be working for another company but I was passionately distracted. Much love to Andrea and Gustavo at B'zar. Look out for some even bigger things in Charleston from the two of them.

FloTV Party

August 06, 2008

The X-Games were in L.A. over the weekend and so was my favorite rapper in the game right now, Wale. I was given the opportunity to see him perform last Friday for the X-Games FloTV pre-party at the Roxy courtesy of Elitaste. The performance started around 10, with Wale performing for about 30min. He performed W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E and then he played a song with Tabi Bonney (see picture below, and yes that is a Filipino flag Adidas jacket!). Btw, he has a song called "Dope"!

After the performance and a few choice beverages, I had to hit the head. While waiting in line I noticed the guy ahead me is none other than X-Games gold medalist Ryan Sheckler, haha...

The night ended pretty nicely because I got to check out Nicki Hilton but then I got to my buddy’s apartment. Some jackass had stolen my laptop from his apartment. It’s not the intrinsic value that makes me mad but all the files, music, videos and sentimental stickers I had on it. If you see someone rockin’ a Laptop with Obama "Hope", Dope Couture, Murakami flowers, and an old Bodega stickers then give him a swift kick to the shins for me and then make a jack move for my laptop!
