Breaking Away Vol. 1 : The Jealous Guys

I get a lot of emails asking me, “What does it take to get onto the blog?” Well it’s much easier said than done. You either have to have some dope ass original rhymes (none of that watered down, cookie cutter, weed, hypebeast rap bullshit) or some ill visuals to go along with your raps. So to give up and coming dope artists the opportunity to get onto our blog, every 2-3 weeks, I’m going to be featuring an artist that I’m really feeling. This series will be called BREAKING AWAY. I’ve been vibing to these cats for the past month or so. They hit me up before about getting put up on the blog and I really didn’t listen to them that attentively at first. It took me a minute to catch their sound and vibe but now I’m on the Jealous Guys buzz train. I like how they’re doing their own thing and keeping it fresh. It’s not that standard Bay Area rap. It sounds like an updated version of that classic hip-hop we all love to cruise around too while also having a gritty street sound. The Jealous Guys’ choice of production meshes so well with their original verbose word play and I think they have a lot good things to look forward to in the future. The imagery behind their videos is just visually stunning. Also look out for them on our upcoming SummerTime mixtape.
